Most bettors will have a portion of their volume of wagers placed on moneylines, but many don’t know when they’re getting value. Knowing the corresponding money-line to point spread values gives bettors an opportunity to pinpoint underlays on the moneyline.

For example if the point spread on a particular football game gets pounded down over the course of the week, there may be an opportunity at one of the sportsbooks where the money line hasn’t been adjusted to scale with the actual point spread. Learning to spot these weak lines will add to your bottom line over the course of a football season.

Below we have listed the odds conversion chart as listed on Bovada.

A moneyline is a type of straight wager where the bettor wagers simply on who will win the contest, straight up – without any spread involved. The easiest way to think of moneyline betting odds is that you are only betting on who wins the game. It does not matter how many points or goals they win by, all that matters is who wins. The -170 and +150 are money lines which are used in moneyline bets. The -6 and +6 are the point spread which are used in a spread bet. The over 44 and under 44 are the total points which are used in the total bet. The minus sign (-) always indicates the favorite.

Betting Tip: Many sharp football bettors will use point spreads to bet favorites and only use money lines when wagering on underdogs.

And yet, no two bets are more popular than the moneyline and point spread. They are the wagers both newbies and pros use, staples that are easy to understand because they deal with the outcomes of straight events or, in some cases, future bets. Money Line: Commonly used as a baseball and hockey wagering tool, basketball moneylines are popular for picking underdogs. There is no point spread linked to the moneyline. So the team you bet on. Aug 05, 2019 Spread betting is slightly more complicated than moneyline betting. But it’s not that hard to figure out. When you place a spread bet, you’ll need the team that you bet on to “cover the spread” that was created for the game in order for you to win. Let’s use the Packers/Bears game as an example again.
