The idea of The Rock winning the 2019 Royal Rumble is apparently gaining steam.
In the fall, The Rock was rumored to be the favorite to win the Rumble and go onto face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35. How true that idea was we'll never know, as Reigns was forced to leave the company to fight leukemia, and the idea of The Rock winning the Rumble seemed to disappear with him.
WWE Royal Rumble 2019 will take place at Chase Field in Phoenix on January 27th. The men's Royal Rumble match is all about the numbers and who can outlast everyone else. Predicting who will have the strongest showing in this year's high-stakes Battle Royal. However, the folks at Oddschecker say that money is coming in to back the idea of Rocky winning the Rumble. In just a few weeks, The Rock's odds have gone from 33/1 to 20/1 — a significant increase in probability.
“With an appearance from The Rock still guaranteed to bring in publicity and ratings, combined with the swirling online rumors, means that a bet on the legend returning could still bear fruit, even in 2019,' said George Elek of Oddschecker.
It's worth underlining that at 20/1 The Rock is still a long shot to win the Rumble. Right now, Seth Rollins is the favorite sitting at 7/4. After Rollins is Braun Strowman at 3/1, then John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Finn Balor all come in around 10/1.
Even though The Rock is mathematically unlikely to win, his name has been churning in WWE's rumor mill since July. While a WrestleMania match with Reign was said to be Plan A,
The Rock did say he intends to wrestle again, and that would appear to be our jumping point for Rock-a-Mania.

It does sound like we'll see Rocky compete in a WWE ring once again, but it could easily be a non-sequester his six-second match with Erik Rowan at WrestleMania 32. At 46, The Rock would seemingly have plenty left in the tank for a brief WWE run, but as one of the most in-demand names in Hollywood, The Rock's schedule may never relent to a point to where he can put in a shift for Vince McMahon. Regardless, there is enough smoke here to anticipate The Rock's music hitting at the Rumble, but don't get your feelings hurt if he no-shows, too.

Roman Reigns is a huge favorite in his title match against Kevin Owens and it is hard to see any reason to see an upset there. We are so close to WrestleMania and the Rumble is very rarely a show in which we see a title change of this nature.
That said, Goldberg looks like a potentially good upset bet at +170. He got the win against Bray Wyatt in his last title shot as a huge underdog and with this year’s event being bigger in the media with the NBC/Peacock deal, a name like Goldberg in the main event makes a certain amount of sense.
The Rumble matches feel generally up for grabs. The two favorites are Bianca Belair and Daniel Bryan, but neither one of them feels like a lock. The two brands make this wide open and the other challenger can always just be made at Elimination Chamber.
I like Bryan more than Bianca simply because Bryan/Roman feels like a natural match. While Belair is a future star, her going against Sasha Banks seems like it would do more to hurt her than help her in my opinion.

It’s never too early to take a look at the WWE Royal Rumble. This year’s event will take place on January 31st. The Royal Rumble always takes place before the Super Bowl and this year’s big game is on February 7th.

The favorite has traditionally won the Royal Rumble matches, but last year saw a true surprise in Drew McIntyre. The 2020 Royal Rumble odds that I posted had Drew McIntyre between +950 and +2000 to win. Stories came out afterwards that there was a late change in plans, but that really works for the “anything can happen in the Royal Rumble” thinking.

That said, favorites have dominated this one and this year’s favorite is Big E. A month ago I would be all over that bet at 3-1 odds as I think the time is right for him to make that move, but they just haven’t shown to be going in that direction. He was barely on Survivor Series and we aren’t seeing much of TLC plans for him either. It won’t take them long to heat this guy up, but shouldn’t they start?

Two rumored title matches for WrestleMania are Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns and Keith Lee vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre. Goldberg is +2000 while Keith Lee and Brock are both +800. Of the three, I’d go with Keith Lee as Goldberg and Lesnar are established enough to simply ask for a title shot.
It’s definitely a weird time in WWE as its hard to make a case for anyone outside of that group. The Rock at +1200 would really be something, but is pretty hard to imagine in the COVID era. If Rock is coming back, you know it will be in front of people. Edge was an interesting choice back when Orton had the title (for like a week), but that time has passed as well.
Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman are all non-entities at this point and it’s hard to see anyone from NXT getting the call. As of now, the only real bets are Lee, Goldberg, Brock, and Big E. Of course, a lot can change in a month.
